Homestay Program

Host families are asked to help their guest establish a local bank account. Once established their parents can wire them money to
cover and expenses they may incur.

Students stay with their host families for 10 months (September— June). Ideally, the student would return to the same host family each year, but placements are evaluated each year for the best fit.

Yes…an application must be completed which includes background checks for all family members living in the home over the age of 18. The Director of Homestay Services will provide you with all of the information.

The students in need of homestay arrangements are a mixture of international and domestic students. Most come here for the athletic/academic experience that St Francis High School can offer. These students are proficient in English and prepared to study in the United States.

St. Francis High School will not issue a 1099 or W-4. We would not consider it income, but rather funds to cover your expenses. Each family is responsible for consulting their tax professional for specific advice about their tax situation.

Host families must demonstrate a willingness to open their homes and hearts. It is expected that Host Families incorporate their quest into their daily family routines including meals and activities. Host Families must be able to provide a student with his own bedroom and internet access must be available in the home.

The families of the visiting student pre-pay all tuition and expenses. Each student will have his own spending money for miscellaneous expenses.

If the placement doesn’t work, St Francis High School would be responsible for finding another home placement for the student

Host families agree to provide meals and snacks for the students they host. Students prepay for their school lunch as part of their fees to the school. Additionally, host families provide basic toiletries for the students.
