School Closure - March 16 - April 19th - Corona Virus Pandemic Response
With the rapidly changing nature of this crisis we have decided it is in the best interest of our students and faculty to close school and cancel all activities through April 19th.
1.) INSTRUCTION: Our teachers will deliver instruction online during the extended school closure. This will require students to have internet access and a device that connects to the internet. Students who do not have a device to access the internet should contact their Guidance Counselor ASAP so that we may facilitate loaning a device. For students without internet access please contact Guidance for assistance.
Parents: We are in uncharted territory. It is imperative that you prompt and monitor your son’s progress. Students are expected to check the Portal each day to see what lessons the teachers have provided. They will all have slightly different expectations but all content will delivered online and may likely require textbooks. Grades will continue to be available online and teachers have been instructed to reach out to a parent if they feel your son is not doing his part. (This is good practice for college as many college courses deliver content this way.)
2.) SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: All school activities are cancelled beginning Monday March 16th. Deadlines for the Service Hour Requiments will be revised.
3.) GRADUATION: As of today all Graduation and Commencement activities are still scheduled as normal. Again should circumstances change we will adjust and announce new plans as they are developed.
4.) SCHOOL CALENDAR: At this time we have not amended the School Year calendar. It is our hope that we can manage this crisis without the need to alter the calendar. New York State Education Department has made accommodations to allow for anticipated disruption of instruction.
5.) CAMPUS ACCESS / OFFICE HOURS: Should a student need to access his locker, campus will be open daily from 9-12. Teachers will not be on campus. Offices will be open and staffed from 9-12.
