JV Football vs Cardinal O'Hara

The St. Francis Red Raiders JV football team remained unbeaten with a 35-0 home win vs. Cardinal O’Hara Hawks. The win improved the Red Raiders record to 3-0. On a rare Sunday evening contest, the game was played in very warm temperatures in front of another very large crowd at Polian Family field. The Red Raiders opened the scoring after tackling the Cardinal O’Hara punter on the Cardinal O’Hara 3 yard line after a bad snap from center. On the next play from scrimmage, RB Kimal Clark ran in 3 yards for a TD and QB Jack Bestpitch ran in for the PAT, giving St. Francis an 8-0 lead. 

On the next Red Raiders possession, St. Francis went ahead 14 - 0 on a 58 yard scoring drive with 53 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter. The drive included QB Jack Bestpitch hitting WR Anthony Gomez for a 10 yard completion and also hitting RB Colton Evoniuk for a 24 yard gain taking the ball down to the Cardinal O’Hara 6 yard line. On 1st a goal from the 6 yard line, RB Vincent Monaco ran in for the TD to complete the drive.

With only 33 seconds remaining until halftime, QB Jack Bestpitch, while in the grasp of a Cardinal O’Hara defender, hit RB Colton Evoniuk with a short pass, which Evoniuk took 57 yards for the Red Raiders 3rd TD of the 1st half, giving them a 20-0 halftime lead.

On the Red Raiders only possession in the 3rd quarter, they scored on a 68 yard scoring drive with 9 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter. The 11 play drive included 53 yards on the ground and a 15 yard roughing the passer penalty on Cardinal O’Hara to open the drive. The drive was completed when RB Kimal Clark ran in for a 1 yard TD run. RB Dylan Mack ran in the PAT, giving the Red Raiders a 28-0 lead.

St. Francis completed the scoring with 5:50 left in the 4th quarter, with RB Noah Gallagher scoring on a 24 yard TD run. Jack Raymond kicked the extra point, making the final score 35-0.

Once again, the St. Francis swarming defense dominated the game, and was led by DL Joe Black and DL Jason Lowry with 4 tackles each. LB Colton Evoniuk pitched in with 3 tackles. In the turnover department, DB Shane Roberts had an interception and Vincent Monaco recovered a fumble for the special teams unit. It should also be noted that St. Francis had to overcame 3 touchdowns which were called back due to penalties.
