Varsity Volleyball MMHSAA Championship

Final score: 18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25

The MMAA Boys' Volleyball Championship provided suspense, drama, comeback, and character building moments but in the end the Red Raiders came up short in their quest to capture their first playoff title since 1999. In game one the Red Raiders found themselves in a quick hole down 1-6, before battling back to 18-23. That 5 point gap was too much for the red and white to overcome as they dropped game one 18-25. In game two the Red Raiders responded and surged to a 23-21 lead before a tight net call went against the Red Raiders making the score 23-22 St. Francis. The Red Raiders were unable to close out game two and fell 23-25 and down 0-2 in the match. The resilient Red Raiders did not back down from the #1 ranked team in WNY as the red and white won game three 25-23 and momentum swung back to the Red Raiders. In game four with the season on the line, the Red Raiders ran out of gas in a tight back-and-forth battle with each team trading points as the game entered the final stages before a quick serving run by the Crusaders pushed the score to 19-25 and the end of the season. Mario Moretti had 36 assists, 4 blocks, 2 kills, and 1 ace. Peyton Consigli had 12 kills, 5 aces, 4 blocks, and 2 digs. Jack Rooney had 11 kills and 2 blocks. Jacob Sacilowski had 8 kills and 1 ace. Joshua Quinn had 5 kills, 5 blocks, 1 ace, and 1 dig. Aidan Trimper had 2 aces.
