March/April 2020

Dear St. Francis family,

I was going through a difficult time last year when my mom mentioned the word restoration to me. I said, “Oh sure. God can help me today and help me move forward but He can’t change what has happened in the past.” She did not agree and said God can heal and change things in an instant, including the past, and she wrote me this prayer:
“Lord, please grant me this gift. No more negative thinking. God can turn back time and restore whatever has been lost, just ask Him. God can take away thoughts and actions that have been negative, and He can put back all of our missed opportunities and relationships. Have Mercy on me Lord Jesus and give me a restoration mentality. Lord you know my heart and my mind, bring to me and fill me with greater strength and joy in every facet of my life than I have ever had before. Amen.”

So I said the prayer and as always, my mom was right. I mention restoration now because I think it’s a nice thought and prayer for the cold dark days of February. I think we all need a little sunshine. I see our young men being extremely busy, stressed, and possibly losing a little steam. They have put plans in place and done their best to implement them, but maybe sometimes they need a new plan. That’s where we can help them. No matter how stressed we are, or how old we are, or what we have been through, we can restore and start over. As a wise man recently said to me, we are just getting started.
