Track & Field Wins Dunkirk Invitaitonal

St. Francis Track & Field Wins the Dunkirk Invite on April 22nd.  Marcus Harrison is named field MVP for winning both the Shotput and Discus while Andrew Krug wins the 110HH and High Jump
The St. Francis Track & Field team traveled down the thruway to participate in the Dunkirk Invitational, their first invite since 2019.  They came home with a 1st place team finish.  Their 119 points bested 16 other schools as the Red Raiders won 6 events during the cool evening in Dunkirk.  Marcus Harrison took home MVP honors taking the shot put and Discus in dominant fashion.  Junior Andrew Krug won the 110 HH and also won the High Jump in a jump off to be the other double winner for the Red Raiders.
Meet Summary
  • Sophomore Marcus Harrison wins the discus with a throw of 149’2 a career best.  Harrison also wins the shot put with a throw of 45’1.  Harrison is named Field MVP for the Dunkirk Invite.  Junior Matt Stadler placed 8th in the shotput to finish 8th in the event with 35’1.5.  Stadler also threw a career best of 97’0 in the discus.
  • Junior Andrew Krug ran a career best 16.65 in the 110 HH to win the event.  His 5’8 best in the high jump forced a jump off in the event to which he cleared 5’8 again to take the event and win his 2nd open event of the day.  Junior Bryce Roberts placed 3rd in High Jump clearing 5’4.
  • Junior Aiden Thomas began his comeback from injury taking the triple jump with a best jump of 40’6.5.  Junior Erik Shattenberg jumped 37’8.75 to place 7th in the triple jump.
  • The 4 x 100 relay of Mike Durski, Sam Hallmark, Bryce Roberts & Erik Shattenberg won the event in a time of 46.45.  A brilliant exchange on the final pass allowed the Red Raiders to win the event in exciting fashion.
  • Anthony Giardina, Chris Jozwiak, Michael Stadler & Joe Pivarunas place 2nd in the 4 x 800 with a season best time of 8:43.1
  • Mike Durski, Sam Hallmark, Andrew Krug and Erik Shattenberg placed 2nd in the 4 x 400 with a time of 4:41.54, a season best in the young season.
  • Senior Joe Pivarunas went all out in the 3200m open and ran a career best time of 10:10.69 to place 2nd in the event.
  • Senior Mike Durski ran a season best time of 53.26 to place 3rd in the open 400m.  Junior Sam Hallmark placed 6th in the event running a time of 57.17.
  • Numerous St. Francis athletes scored points Friday night.  They include
    • Frosh Nathan Powers 5th in the 400 IH with a time of 1:11.06
    • Frosh Michael Stadler placed 5th in the 800m running 2:10.04
    • Sophomore Nathan Phillips placed 5th in the 1600m running 4:57.06
    • Junior Bryce Roberts placed 6th in the 100m running 11.98 FAT
    • Junior Matt Sheehan placed 8th in the 1600m running 5:09.09
    • Junior Steve Otremba placed 8th in the 200m running 25.00 FAT
The Red Raiders next league competition is a double dual vs Nichols & Christian Central on April 27th.  Meet is set to start at 400pm on the 27th.
