Track & Field defeats St. Joe's

St. Francis Track & Field defeats previously unbeaten St. Joe’s and moves into 1st place in the MMHSAA.  Marcus Harrison resets shotput record for the 3rd time this spring.
The St. Francis Track & Field team defeated St. Joe’s 100-14 on May 11th.   The Red Raiders improved to 6-0 and took sole possession of 1st place in the MMHSAA.  St. Francis defeated St. Joe’s who was previously undefeated in MMHSAA and control their destiny to win their 4th straight regular season title.  Sophomore Marcus Harrison reset the shotput record with his toss of 50’11.  He also won the Discus.  Junior Andrew Krug also was a double winner winning the hotly contest long jump and winning the triple jump with a career mark.  The team’s balance and depth was on display Wednesday as St. Francis took on St. Joe’s in warm conditions at St. Francis.
Meet Summary
  • Mike Durski, Michael Stadler, Matt Sheehan & Joe Pivarunas won the 4 x 800 in a time of 9:15.  First three legs allowed anchor Pivarunas to cruise to the win in event #1.
  • Sophomore Marcus Harrison wins the shotput resetting the school record for the 3rd time this spring with his throw of 50’11.  Juniors Logan Reaska (42’1.5) and Matt Stadler (37’8) give St. Francis a sweep in the event.
  • Junior Andrew Krug wins the long jump with his best of 20’8.5.  He was the lone place finisher for St. Francis St. Joe’s jumped well and all place finishers were over 20 feet. 
  • Marcus Harrison wins the Discus with his best throw of 135’2.  Gerard Eberl places 2nd with 109’5 and Junior John Mallory throws his best of 91’8 on his final throw to outfinish St. Joe’s and allow St. Francis to sweep event.
  • Andrew Krug jumps 41’6.5 a career mark to take the triple jump over fellow juniors Aiden Thomas (40’2) and Erik Shattenberg (39’3.75).  St. Francis Sweeps Triple jump.
  • Junior Dylan Walker wins the 100m with a time of 11.3.  Junior Bryce Roberts runs 11.4 to place 2nd in the 100m while Junior Logan Reaska runs a career best 11.5.
  • Senior Joe Pivarunas wins the mile winning the event in a time of 4:46 pulling away from St. Joe’s in the last 300m.  Junior Anthony Giardina places 3rd in the event running 5:00 a season best.
  • Senior Mike Durski wins the 400m with a winning time of 53.2.  Juniors Eric Shattenberg (54.4) and Steve Otremba 54.9 help the Red Raiders to a sweep in the 400m. Both Shattenberg and Otremba hit the qualifying mark in the 400m Wednesday.
  • Frosh Mike Stadler leads a sweep in the 800m running a time of 2:07.7.  Senior Chris Jozwiak career best 2:09 places 2nd in the event.
  • Juniors Sam Hallmark runs 23.8 to take the 200m with a strong finish over teammates Logan Reaska (24.0) and Dylan Walker 24.05 to sweep the 200m.  Dylan Walker hits qualifying mark for the event Wednesday.
  • Sophomore Nathan Phillips goes all out in the 2 mile to place 2nd running 10:41.  Joe Pivarunas finishes 3rd as the Red Raiders go 2-3 in the 2 mile.
  • Junior Bryce Roberts wins high jump clearing 5’8.  Freshman Joe Littlejohn clears 5’8 to place 2nd and Andrew Krug jumps 5’6 to sweep the event.  Freshman Damone Allen clears 5’4 Wednesday.
  • 4 x 400 of Steve Otremba, Sam Hallmark, Erik Shattenberg and Mike Stadler win the event in a time of 3:51.9.  Stadler’s final leg of 54.2 holds off St. Joe’s.
  • Mike Durski, Dylan Walker, Bryce Roberts & Logan Reaska win the 4 x 100 in a time of 45.9 to conclude the meet.
St. Francis wrap up the regular season with a Dual Meet that will be against Bishop Timon & Park on Monday May 16th at St. Francis.
