Meet the Staff
Director of Hockey Operations

Bio: Coach Marc Fattey is a graduate of St. Francis, class of 1999. As a "Red Raider," he played three years on the Scholastic Varsity (Federation) hockey team, and was a member of the Championship winning team in both his junior (1997-98) and senior (1998-99) year.  Fattey also played varsity soccer at St. Francis, a two-time all WNY defender, and member of the Monsignor Martin Championship winning team in both his junior and senior year.

After attending St. Francis, he played for the Buffalo Lightning (now Buffalo Jr. Sabres) in the OPJHL for the 1999-2000 season, scoring 21 pts (5g, 16a) in 47 games.  Fattey went on to attend SUNY Fredonia (graduated 2005), where he was a four year letter-winner for the NCAA DIV III "Blue Devils", recording 20 pts (2G 18A) in an 82 game college career. 

Coach Fattey has been the Director of Hockey Operations and Assistant Alumni Director at St. Francis High School since March of 2016.

Bio: Coach Anthony Day is a graduate of St. Francis High School, class of '09, where he played all four years for the Varsity Prep team.  In 2009, he set the school record for points in a single season with 79 (42 games).  That same year, he was voted 1st-Team All-Midwest Prep Hockey League, was the recipient of both the Hasek’s Heroes High School Player of Year and of the Brian McNamara Memorial Scholarship awards.  After St. Francis, he played for Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) for all of 2009-10 and part of 2010-11 season, finishing the year with the Waterloo Blackhawks. 

The following year, he went on to attend Yale University (NCAA DIV I) to study Political Science and Finance (graduated 2015). While playing for the "Bulldogs", Day won two Ivy League Championship’s, took two trips to the NCAA Division I National Tournament, and is a member of the school’s first Division I National Championship winning team (Frozen Four 2013, Pittsburgh, PA). 

After graduating from Yale University, Day joined the Pennbrook Group at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Manhattan, NY as a financial advisor with a focus on business development as well as portfolio analytics and day to day operations.  Today, in addition to coaching for the St. Francis Red Raiders, he works locally at Sgroi Financial, LLC as a Research Analyst.

Bio: Coach Scarsella attended St. Francis High School, and is a graduate of the class of 2007. He played Prep hockey all four years and became the first player in school history to record 200 total career points. As a senior, he tallied 71 points in 42 games (setting a school record that would later be broken by Anthony Day) and was named 1st-team All-Star in the Midwest Prep League for the third time in four years. While at St. Francis, Vince also played three years of varsity baseball, was a 1st Team All-WNY infielder and won the Georgetown Cup in his senior year.  At graduation, Scarsella was named Athlete of the Year - the highest honor an athlete at St. Francis High School can receive. 

Scarsella went on to Canisius College to study finance (Graduated 2011). He ias a four-year letter-winner at Canisius, posting 133 points (40g, 93a) in 144 career games, and currently holds the school record for most games played in Canisius College history. Vince led the "Golden Griffs" in scoring during his rookie season with 31 points, finished top-five in points all four years, and was named to AHA Third All-Conference Team in 2009-10. Upon the completion of his Senior season, he moved immediately to the professional stage, playing 8 games for the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL.

The following season, Scarsella continued his professional career in Germany, scoring 47 points in 29 games for Berlin in the GerObL. He then returned to the US, playing again in the ECHL for the Utah Grizzlies (2013-14, 2014-15) and Stockton Thunder (2014-15). Most recently (2016-17), he played in pro in the UK, for the Dundee Stars, recording 72pts in 52 games.  

Today, in addition to coaching for the St. Francis Red Raiders, Vince works locally for Sgroi Financial, LLC as a Research Analyst.
HEAD COACH: Fed Varsity & RR-16U

Bio: Coach Benner is a graduate of St. Francis High School, class of 2007. While at St. Francis, he played Prep hockey for three years, and was a member of the 2005-06 MPHL Championship winning team (along with Vince Scarsella).  He went on to play in the MNJHL, first, for the Minnesota Flying Aces (now Wilmar Warhawks).  In his second season, he was traded to the Wisconsin Mustangs, where he finished 2nd in the league in scoring, with 87 points in 48 games.

Benner attended the University of Buffalo (graduated 2014), where he studied English Education and played ACHA hockey.  As a UB "Bull", Benner played in 122 games, tallying 61g and 79a for a total of 140 points. He returned to UB in 2015-16 as an Asst. Coach on the Men's ACHA Club Varsity team.

Coach Benner returned to St. Francis in 2016-17, to coach the RR-15U team and Federation Varsity teeam. In 2017-18, under Benner's leadership, the Fed Team captured the regular season title (3rd division).  This accomplishment has earned St. Francis a promotion to the 2nd division for the 2018-19 season.
