The 44th annual Eden Boys' Volleyball tournament was held Saturday September 7th at the BNCC in West Seneca and the Red Raiders had a great day.
The team opened with a 1-1 split versus Oswego, then a 2-0 sweep over Will North and a 0-2 loss to eventual tournament runner-up Clarence to finish at 3-3 in pool play. That record was good enough to get the red and white into the gold playoffs as the #11 seed.
The team then faced off against the #6 seed Canisius in a one game to 25 match. The Red Raiders sent Canisius home as they defeated the Crusaders 25-23 to advance to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately for the Red Raiders the team fell to the #3 seed West Seneca West 25-18 to be eliminated from the tournament. Senior Jack Rooney was named to the All-Tournament team for his outstanding play all day.
The Red Raiders will open league play on Monday night on the road versus Cardinal O'Hara at 6:30 pm. The Red Raiders will then play at Canisius on Wednesday night for a highly anticipated match at 6:30 pm.
