Track & Field Defeats O'Hara & St. Mary's in Home Opener

St. Francis Track & Field defeats O’Hara & St. Mary’s to open 2022 Season  Marcus Harrison sets the school record for the Shotput April 6th.

The St. Francis Track & Field team defeated O’Hara (108-6) and St. Mary’s of Lancaster (95-19)Wednesday April 6th.  What should be a highlight through this season is the St. Francis Shotput school record being broken.  Sophomore Marcus Harrison broke the record previously held by Brent Titus since 2006 with his throw of 49’3 Wednesday.  Marcus also won the discus with his throw of 137’11.  Junior Bryce Roberts was a double winner in the long jump and the 200m for the Red Raiders.  St. Francis won outright 12 of the 14 events contested and had numerous athletes hit event qualifiers for the All Catholic Championships

  • Anthony Giardina, Chris Jozwiak, Michael Stadler & Joe Pivarunas won the 4 x 800 in a time of 9:06.7
  • Sophomore Marcus Harrison wins the discus with a throw of 137’11.  Seniors Gerard Eberl 124’3 and Mason Vail 105’2 led a sweep in the event.  Harrison & Eberl hit the qualifier standard for All Catholics.
  • Junior Bryce Roberts wins the long jump with a best jump of 19’8.5.  Fellow Junior Andrew Krug coming off an injury jumps 18’10.25 for the Red Raiders to go 1-2 in the event.  Roberts and Krug hit the event qualifier for the All Catholic.
  • Marcus Harrison sets school record in the shotput with his throw of 49’3.  Gerard Eberl 36’1.5 and Connor Baker 32’9 allow Red Raiders to sweep the event.  Non Scoring Matt Stadler tossed the shotput 37’1.25.  Harrsion hit the qualifier standard for All Catholic.
  • Junior Andrew Krug jumps 40’0.25 to win the triple jump.  Junior Erik Shattenberg jumps 37’9 in his event debut for the Red Raiders to go 1-2 in the event.  Krug hits the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic.
  • Junior Dylan Walker makes his debut in the 100m a victory posting a time of 11.5.  Senior Mike Durski 11.8 and Junior Logan Reaska 12.0 lead to a sweep in the event for St. Francis.  Walker and Durski hit the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic. 
  • Senior Joe Pivarunas runs 4:44 to win the mile.  Chris Jozwiak placed 3rd in the event with a time of 5:09.  Pivarunas hits the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic.
  • Senior Mike Durski wins the 400m with a winning time of 54.0.  Juniors Sam Hallmark 55.4 and Steve Otremba 56.8 helped the Red Raiders to a sweep in the 400m.  Durski hits the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic.
  • Freshman Michael Stadler takes the 800m in an impressive opening season time of 2:10.5.  Junior Matt Sheehan runs 2:15.5 and holds on for second in the closest placing for the afternoon Wednesday.
  • Junior Bryce Roberts wins the 200m in a time of 24.0.  Juniors Logan Reaska 24.4 and Dylan Walker 24.7 help St. Francis Sweep the 200m.  Roberts and Reaska hit the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic.
  • Sophomore Nathan Phillips won the 2 mile race in a time of 10:56.5.  Junior Eric Lanning placed 3rd in the event running a time of 11:59.
  • Junior Andrew Krug high jumped 5’8 to place 2nd in the high jump.  Junior Erik Shattenberg cleared 5’6 to place 3rd.  Krug and Shattenberg both hit the event qualifier standard for the All Catholic.
  • Mike Durski, Dylan Walker, Bryce Roberts & Logan Reaska won the 4 x 100 in a time of 47.2 to wrap up the meet.
Easter Vacation will be up next for the Red Raiders before they travel to Dunkirk for the Dunkirk Invite scheduled for April 22nd. The Red Raiders next league competition is a double dual vs Nichols & Christian Central on April 27th.  Meet is set to start at 430pm on the 27th.
